Our dear friend, Laye, lost his father suddenly on Friday, May 26th. Laye is a student at CUNY Hunter and has been living alone with his father in Brooklyn. He is grieving this immense loss all while assuming complete responsibilities of after-life care. Much of this has fallen on Laye as an only child with limited family support. This includes tying up various financial matters, cleaning out his father’s apartment, etc. To alleviate stress and support him as he adjusts through this difficult transition, we are asking our extended community to join us in collectively caring for our dear friend by contributing whatever you can to help Laye meet financial necessities including rent, bills, groceries and other other essential living expenses. It is our duty to lift each other up and show up not just in times of joy, but in times of need as well. We pray that Allah (SWT) has mercy on his father, Sekou Barry, and that he is granted the highest level of Paradise, inshallah. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
