Support Our Mission to Help Kilimanjaro Orphans

For more than 20 years, Chad and I have been best friends, brought together by a shared love for adventure.

Last summer, while planning our next trip, we asked ourselves a different question:

What if every adventure we took could make a real impact somewhere in the world?

That idea became UpHillClimb.org, a nonprofit built on one mission:

Making a local impact, all around the globe.

This April, we’re traveling to Tanzania to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.

But this climb isn’t about reaching the summit.

It’s about the people we met along the way.

While preparing for this expedition, we were introduced to Edward Lazaro — known as “Teacher.”

Teacher founded the Kilimanjaro Orphanage Center, which today provides:

• Housing, food, medical care, and education for 89 orphaned children
• A school supporting over 400 children in the surrounding community

After learning about what he’s built, we knew immediately:

This is where our first mission needed to begin.

Our Goal: $50,000

We are raising $50,000 to help the orphanage become self-sustaining and secure for years to come.

Funds will directly support:

• A full irrigation system and 8 wells
• Livestock (cows, goats, chickens, sheep)
• A security wall to protect the orphanage

These projects will allow the orphanage to grow its own food, support livestock, and create long-term stability for the children.

Our Journey Begins Now

We leave for Tanzania next week, with our climb beginning on April 14th.

We will spend 7 days on the mountain, pushing ourselves through one of the most physically and mentally demanding challenges we’ve ever taken on.

After the climb, we will spend three full days at the orphanage, where we’ll meet the children, spend time with Teacher, and experience firsthand the impact this community is making.

We’ll be documenting everything — from the climb to our time at the orphanage — and sharing it with all of our supporters.

Why This Matters

The orphanage is more than a place to live.

It’s a place where children who have experienced real hardship are given safety, opportunity, and a future.

With the right support, it can become fully sustainable for generations to come.

How You Can Help

If you feel inspired to support this mission, we would be incredibly grateful.

Every donation — no matter the size — makes a real difference.

And if you’re not able to donate, sharing this campaign helps more than you know.

For Larger Donations

If you or your company are considering making a larger contribution, we would love to connect directly.

We are currently finalizing our tax-exempt status, which is expected to be completed within the next 1–2 weeks. Once finalized, we will be able to provide the appropriate documentation for tax-deductible contributions.

If this is important for your donation, please feel free to reach out to us directly.

We’re happy to coordinate timing and ensure your contribution is structured in the best way possible.

This is the first mission of many for UpHillClimb.org.

We believe adventure can be more than personal achievement.

It can change lives.
