Fundraiser for the Upgrade of Loughtagalla Park

We the Loughtagalla Park and Residents Group came together in 2018 to develop a 5-year plan for their area. The first objective is to upgrade the facilities of our Local Park. The focus of which is to develop people and child friendly facilities, considering all age groups and in particular children and young people with intellectual, sensory, and special needs as well as the social n needs of older people.

A survey was carried out in July 2019 to get community agreement on the key priorities for the area. The survey findings identified clearly that the community very much welcomed the proposal to upgrade the park, which envisages a mixture of active and passive recreation areas, spaces for quiet contemplation and more robust play, enhanced play equipment for younger children. The provision of a sensory garden was supported to address issues of social inclusion and provide the first such garden for Thurles town and its hinterland. The use of a modern form of design in the provision of equipment developed around the theme of biodiversity is another highly preferred option.

Planning permission was granted in October 2020 and a request to tender for .his project has been placed on E-Tenders.

The Residents Group and Friends of Loughtagalla Park Upgrade need your help to make this dream a reality and are launching a Fundraising campaign to raise the Local Contribution of €40,000.00.
