Update the Teresa Miller memorial garden

Hello, this is Kristine (Oesterling) Kuhn and I am raising funds to update the Teresa Miller memorial garden at Susquenita High School! Teresa was my dear friend and classmate (part of the class of 1993) at Susquenita but she passed away suddenly in February 1991. Many of us have fond memories of Teresa, and our days at Susquenita! The memorial garden was created shortly after her passing and is located outside the gymnasium entrance of Susquenita High School. It is one of the first things visitors see when they come to a sporting event at our gym. In the past, this was a beautiful place to take pictures. In fact the majority of our class of '93 yearbook group photos were taken here. I would love to see this restored to a place for future Susquenita students to do just that. It has also been 30 years since the class of '93 graduated! In honor of this, and Teresa's beautiful spirit, its time to give the garden some TLC.

In conjunction with my dad, who is a landscape architect by trade, and some help from Stauffers of Kissel Hill, we have developed a plan to update the garden. We will be asking for volunteers to assist with the work but first we need to raise some funds to cover the cost of plants and new benches.

See attached pictures of the garden currently. Plans include a total redo of the main center garden, which is currently just grass. We will be adding a center tree, numerous flowers and bulbs, and some groundcover to create a perennial garden. We will also be trimming existing bushes adding multiple flowering bushes, and planting some grass. We would like to add 3 benches like in the past, costing $480 a piece, which is the bulk of our budget. I'm hopeful my '93 classmates, other alumni, and those that currently have children and grandchildren at Susquenita, will all chip in to help us reach our goal! Any funds raised above and beyond, will go towards further updates and future maintenance.

For those that can volunteer to help, we will have a work day on Saturday, May 13th from 8am-12pm. Raindate will be Saturday, May 20th 1pm-5pm. Please contact me if you plan on volunteering! Bring your gloves and some garden tools.

This project is not funded or organized by the school, but we do have school approval to proceed. We appreciate your support in turning the garden back into a beautiful spot on the Susquenita campus!
