Hello everybody, my name is Chelsea, and I've been going through it for a spell. I'm not eager to once again be asking for help, but I am entirely down on the ground and need to, so here we are.
If you can spare some time, I can explain both the situation I've found myself in with its circumstances behind it as well as my solution to moving forward, which I've already quietly kind of gotten ahead on!
Starting with the situation:
Last November, my living situation collapsed underneath me as my life disintegrated with my roommate and I being forced to flee our home. Our ex, my roommate and mine, couldn't reasonably sit through and work patiently with us to leave our home, and so we all split.
This resulted in us losing the house as well as most everything in it; I myself lost most all of my belongings, the majority of my clothing, and my car had to be abandoned in North Carolina. My Roommate bestie ? They had to flee to Florida with what little belongings they could stuff into their car with our dog.
I managed to pull a few possessions of mine into a SUV sent to pick me up on the seventh of December and that was that.
We lost everything because we couldn't sell everything.
I lost my knives, I lost most all of my culinary equipment we couldn't stash away, some of my own old personal belongings.
We lost the house that my roommate was paying on.
I have to start all over again and I've been hesitant to ask for any help because I'm quite frankly tired of being in situations where I have to ask.
Right now I need to secure funds in a bank account I managed to open up here where I am residing, and that's where the solution to some of my problems are that you all may be able to help with!
Presently I am without a few of my belongings I did leave behind that I did stash down south, mostly my books and sewing equipment I'd like to get back into my possessions, few that are left anyway. They were stashed in my car down south, which did get broken into on January 8th.
Someone tried to steal my car with what little things I had left in it and left the entire steering column busted, something that I've actually gotten close to resolving just by networking alone.
So there is work that must be done and I do have a plan that I have worked out with friends and found family where I am staying.
Currently our game plan sits in a two part for full closure.
I already have funds secured to process this part of the plan as a darling of mine has dogeared them for this project.
My car is in disrepair and non driveable, and that must be squared away so it doesn't come to bite me so severely in the ass. So we are planning a quick trip south to see if the vehicle can still move under its own steam, hoping that the would be thieves didn't total the ignition switch. A mechanic friend and I plan on doing a quick walk around the vehicle to see if it can be saved perform general maintenance if we can, and prepare it for transportation.
Should the vehicle be something we can't save, we're just going to scrap it out right and close the program to move on with my finding a different runner to get back on my feet in full.
Should the vehicle be salvageable, a friend of mine has some spare parts the next state over and is interested in it, thus would start the second part of my scheme.
Getting the vehicle across state lines to my pal.
Now, we'd prefer a flatbed truck but we're also planning to maneuver without that, and that's really where everyone else can come in and pitch in to resolve this. If I over shoot the goal by any margin? This permits me to move a bit more comfortably in life while I try to get the rest of my life in order. Hell, I'd be pleased as peaches if I could one day by my own damn mattress or desk chair again, but those are problems for later dates.
This is less of an emergency, but I would absolutely love any and all help to wrap this up.
The short of the long is that my ex put me into a situation as I couldn't move as fluidly as they did on their flight with their gilded parachute. They ran out the door with most everything they could, and I've not seen or spoken to them since. It was their right to take their things, of course, but I've been left with my life once again in disarray, and I would very much like to stop living like this.
This is going to be the reason I set the goals a little higher than normal (We can thank the American economy for this, partially) with the goal to just survive this hell and get back on my pads. Every cent will go into getting this resolved, and any thing Extra will go into quality of life improvements. Hell, maybe even getting a few articles of clothing from a goodwill would be nice with whatever is kicked, but our primary goal is to raise 2250 USD for this project. This will cover the entirety of the part B, as well as afford us some cushion should anything go awry. My floor goal is 2250- but if we exceed this? I will keep it going to get just a few additional things squared away with life, such as legal name change stuff which has been on hold since last year!
So please, if you can manage to sling a few bucks into my till? Or even just share this to see if a few others have a buck or two, I'd super appreciate it. Every dollar, cent, or well wish will carry me to a better life and help me not be stuck in multiple states with my garbage scattered across the wilds.
Thank you for your time!
UPDATING! NOW 3-5-2026
Oh my good goddess, holy smokes!
So this is happening.
I owe a great deal of you maaaany, many, many thanks! So let me start with this first one ! Thank you ALL for the amazing progress that we've made so far with a bunch of donations and traction on this ! It's really paying off already in big meaningful ways; I don't feel like I'm going to slip into darkness, I don't fear what I have to do so terribly, and I'm able to find progress through planning without increased levels of anxiety! Hey!
Knowing that I have some foundation has allowed me to get some of the final organizing done on the first leg of my trip back down south. Securing the broken in vehicle and starting the process on getting it to its final destination is the goal of this first leg!
My own belongings will be removed, whats left of the very few remaining personal items which were not lost in the shuffle like some of my books, and the vehicle will be prepared for movement with a technician's inspection. If possible, light maintenance be paid for and performed to insure the vehicle will be ready for further transportation.
I have -finally- saved up thanks to the donations to knock this big first part of the task out, and with any luck will be aggressively be pursuing part two of this within the following week.
I may have my whole life in the south of the US wrapped up before APRIL!
THAT IS INCREDIBLE !
I am also managing to keep my budget extra tight on this, so I might be able to roll into the second half sooner rather than later, but I'm not able to work on that nor plan for that part of this journey just yet because I still need a fair bit of help getting to that point of safety. That is the second part of my journey.
There is still a fair bit of fact finding to be done about the state of the car, given the attempted theft back on January 7-8th, but we are all very hopeful that the costs to get it rolling once more will be fairly low.
Hopeful, but we are constantly reminded by the state's aggression that hope won't win the day. There is yet more work that needs to be done.
So, with all of this in mind, I'm going to keep this open and rolling as I depart for the in the coming weeks. I can't be specific as to where things are or when for my personal safety as well as the others involved in making everything work, but again, I owe a great deal of thank you to many, many of you for looking out for us.
This is helping me get my life back together and wrap things up so I can move onto the next stage of my life.
Thank you all!
BIG UPDATE!!!
It's been a couple of weeks everyone and I've got to spin you a yarn about progress and holding patterns on it, so if you've got time for the update, please !I finally managed to get down to North Carolina to square things away from where I was living! It's been a great time getting that taken care of and planning for the next leg! I do mean that genuinely, I've been able to take this at a pace despite the horrors which persist outside.
Our go date was March 7th, we were in and out so! The short of the long; The car did not start due to the broken lock, the vehicle's ignition mechanism wasn't functional, the battery wasn't charged, and I had one rim on the ground so! Working with the creatures who will be taking the vehicle off my hands, we've organized a means to get that car to them.
That required me to get my title and paperwork in order, papers replaced, and ducks in a row. I have managed to get EVERYTHING insofar as my personal papers done over in the mean time!Title and ID!
I am also on track to get a running vehicle up here and with my papers finally in order, I will be on track to HOPEFULLY GET A JOB! I am in the middle of doing so many things on top of this, so I will unfortunately have to keep shaking the tin.
I also shaking the tin with a goal to get that RAV 4 and my DL back in my inventory because I have a major goal outside of the need for my ability to drive and get around the sticks out here.
My darling friend in Florida who I parted ways with back in December is landing on rough times as their family bread winner is proving to be more combative and is actively creating a hostile environment as well as has revealed himself to be Trans-phobic. They no longer have a safe place to stay down there and are in need of someone to help them leave in fairly short notice. Again.
I will have access to transportation by the time they need at whatever speed things come together, I have the resources now to continue moving, but ANYTHING going into this GFM will now be split into that purpose. I kept that goal high suspecting something was going to happen, and here we are.
The destination and plan so far is that I will -meet- them, my friend in dire straits, in a state half way between here and their destination in the north, a nice safe blue state with accommodation. They are going there. I will take on a good portion of their belongings in my vehicle and then shift our dog friend PRINCESS PEACH up in the spacious area of the Rav for movement. I can then drive ahead of them to somewhere where a dog sitter is waiting to receive the hound and I can wait over the next few days to exchange the pup!
ANYTHING chipped into this is going to be going into making that work. The car crisis of the NC crap and my paperwork is over, but now I have to hit the road and make this work in our failing economy.
TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE AT THIS POINT ! I do not have all of April to move on this at a leisurely pace. Any and all donations will be going into getting my friend Fable and our Hound Peach to a safer horizon!
