We are doing whatever we can to support our mate and his family who are currently on a journey to fight the big C.
Just as Toby, Jess and Peggy were unprepared for the diagnosis of Toby, we will be unprepared on our journey to complete 100km individually. With some boys running, some walking some shaving their head we aim to do what it takes to raise $10,000 to help relieve them from the burden of financial stress.
For those of you that know Toby, and those that dont, he is that one friend you can always count on. Nothing is ever a burden, nothing is ever too hard and he will always make someone else's problem his own.
One year in to appointments, operations, treatments and dont forget the never ending 2 steps forward 1 step back situations, it was time we took it into our hands to help out.
A bit about Tobys story.
He was diagnosed with metastatic colorectal cancer 12 months ago. After 11 rounds of chemo and almost 6 months straight treatment, doctors had decided to change treatment options. Being 35 years old and having a genetic profile that ticked all the boxes, an immunotherapy trial was decided.
4 rounds into trial, scans have now shown some new spots on the spine and in the pelvis. Now under the doctors order to be on crutches for 6 weeks, simple tasks like lifting Peggy, his two year old daughter have been taken away from him.
Treatment has been a bit up in the air but after long discussions he will be continuing on the trial aiming to get two more rounds in before another scan..
