Unmute. Empower. Change a Life.
Why we Need Your Help
Every young person deserves to be heard. At REELise, we empower youth to speak up, share their stories, and drive positive change through the power of film.
We support young people to 24 years to share stories that matter. Their short films tackle the real-life issues they face - cyberbullying, social media addiction, body image, mental health, gendered violence, LGBTQIA+ discrimination, and more. We showcase these films annually at the REELise Film Festival providing a national audience, cinema screening, awards ceremony and red-carpet experience for our young filmmakers, and creative industry networking opportunities.
Georgia's Story
"I was cyberbullied from Year 7 to Year 10. I felt scared. I felt vulnerable. I often felt like I was worth nothing. Being part of REELise made me feel like I'm good at something. Creating my film "Cyber" was a turning point. I claimed back my power and turned a negative into a positive tool for change."
From age 14, Georgia was relentlessly cyberbullied - excluded, stalked, and targeted with cruel messages that destroyed her confidence and mental wellbeing. But when she turned that pain into a film called "Cyber" everything changed.
Her short film not only won multiple awards - it sparked conversations in schools, inspired other young people to speak up, and helped Georgia rediscover her self-worth and passion. Today she runs her own successful creative business.
Georgia's story is just one of many made possible through REELise.
Our Work at REELise
REELise is a health promotion charity registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission.
Through our education and leadership programs and national youth film festival:
- Over 30,000 young people have been supported in sharing their story and acquiring new skills.
- Over 200 films have been created with important social messages, sparking dialogue in homes and classrooms and broadening community awareness about the issues that impact youth mental health.
- A safe and inclusive space has been created for youth who feel unseen, unheard or misunderstood.
- We've turned tools of cyberbullying into positive instruments of change and made filmmaking accessible to young people from diverse backgrounds around Australia using just a smartphone.
- We've built confidence, skills of creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, communication and leadership, and supported positive mental health outcomes.
The experience has been life-changing for many of our filmmakers. They developed self-belief, found their voice and their mental health and life outlook improved.
Why this Matters
We've seen it firsthand: when a young person turns pain into purpose through storytelling, it changes everything. Confidence grows. Healing begins. And they realise they are not alone.
Every story has the power to change a life - sometimes even to save one. Your donation helps a teenager like Georgia turn trauma into hope and discover a creative career pathway.
Join us in uplifting the next generation of changemakers - one film, one voice, one life at a time.
