Union Helps Homeless LGBTQ+ Youth

While COVID-19 may prevent us from being on campus this term, it does not prevent us from making meaningful contributions to help the world around us; especially for those in excruciating need during these trying times. With about 40% of homeless youth in New York identifying as LGBTQ+, special care must be taken to protect their authentic identities from discrimination and harm. The Ali Forney Center, based in NYC, is one of the only organizations doing exactly this.

While many businesses have been able to close their doors to protect themselves from the current pandemic, the Ali Forney Center is unable to do so. For countless homeless LGBTQ+ youth, AFC cannot shut their doors; it is their home. Thus, any donation will make a meaningful contribution to help these youth weather these chaotic times through meals, housing, and sanitary materials.

Want to join Union College's Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa in making a difference? We're raising money to benefit Ali Forney Center, and any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.

More information about Ali Forney Center: Committed to saving the lives of LGBT young people, in 2002 Carl Siciliano founded the Ali Forney Center (AFC) in memory of Ali. Since AFC's launch with 6 beds in a church basement, the organization has grown to become the largest agency dedicated to LGBTQ homeless youths in the country.
