Mi nombre es Filomena Chimaico,y junto a mi esposo y mi hija dejamos Texas llenos de ilusión y esperanza.Como muchos familias,vinimos a Chicago buscando un futuro mejor,un trabajo digno y nuevas oportunidades para salir adelante como familia.Nuestro sueño no era solo para nosotros:queríamos establecernos para poder traer más adelante a mi papá y cuidarlo,darle tranquilidad y reunir a nuestra familia nuevamente.Al poco tiempo de llegar ambos empezamos a trabajar,por primera vez en mucho tiempo sentíamos que todo empezaba a acomodarse.Teníamos sueños,planes y la fe intacta.Yo tenía una cita pendiente en Texas,al mudarnos intenté comunicarme con inmigración para saber si debía presentarme en Chicago.Llame pregunte,busque orientación…pero nunca obtuve una respuesta.Aun así como personas responsables y respetuosas de la ley decidimos no escondernos y cumplir.El día de mi cita,llenos de miedo pero con la conciencia tranquila nos presentamos en las oficinas de inmigración en Chicago.No teníamos abogado,no teníamos a nadie que nos guiara solo la convicción de hacer lo correcto.Depues de una larga espera,llamaron a mi esposo.Entro y nunca volvió a salir.Desesperada,pregunté que estaba pasando y en ese momento el mundo se me vino encima:mi esposo había sido detenido.Senti que el suelo desaparecía bajo mis pies.Minutos después,me llamaron a mí y me dijeron:usted también está detenida.Me colocaron un grillete.El miedo,la angustia y la impotencia fueron indescriptibles.Hoy mi esposo sigue detenido.Nuestra familia está rota.Mi hija pregunta por su papá todos los días.Yo estoy desesperada.No tenemos un lugar estable donde vivir y enfrentamos gastos que jamás imaginamos.El sueño de traer a mi papá para cuidarlo hoy se siente más lejano que nunca.Lo único que puede ayudarnos ahora es un abogado que nos permita luchar por la libertad de mi esposo y mantener a nuestra familia unida.no estamos pidiendo lujos,solo una oportunidad justa.Mi esposo es un hombre trabajador,un padre amoroso y un esposo dedicado.No es un criminal.Es un hombre que solo quiso cumplir con la ley y buscar un futuro mejor apara su familia.Porfavor,si pueden ayudarnos con una donación o compartiendo esta historia se lo agradeceremos de todo corazón.Cada aporte por pequeño que sea,nos acerca a traer a mi esposo devuelta a casa,a darle a nuestra hija la estabilidad que merece y a no renunciar al sueño de mantener a nuestra familia unida.Gracias por leernos,por su apoyo y por su humanidad.

Our dream was not just for us: we wanted to settle down to be able to bring my dad later and take care of him, give him peace of mind and reunite our family again. Shortly after arriving we both started working, for the first time in a long time we felt that everything was starting to settle down. We had dreams, plans and faith intact. I had a pending appointment in Texas, when we moved I tried to contact immigration to know if I should Introduce myself in Chicago. I asked, look for guidance... but I never got an answer. On the day of my appointment, full of fear but with a clear conscience we presented ourselves at the immigration offices in Chicago. We had no lawyer, we had no one to guide us only the conviction of doing the right thing. After a long wait, they called my husband. I entered and he never came out again. Desperate, I asked what was happening and at that moment the world came at me: my husband had been arrested. I felt that the ground disappear under my feet. Minutes later, they called me and I They said: you are also arrested. They put a shackle on me. Fear, anguish and helplessness were indescribable. Today my husband is still in custody. Our family is broken. My daughter asks about her dad every day. I am desperate. We do not have a stable place to live and we face expenses that we never imagined. The dream of bringing my dad to take care of him today feels further away than ever. The only thing that can help us now is a lawyer who allows us to fight for my husband's freedom and keep our family together. We are not asking for luxuries, just a fair opportunity.
