Our friend and colleague, Angela Accettola, suddenly and unexpectedly lost her best friend and husband, Matthew, on March 23, 2021. One moment he was by her side, laughing and teaching his daughter to drive and the next moment he was gone.
Angela has been thrust into living her life without her soulmate, and now she must raise their two daughters, Stella and Sophie alone. Angela will also continue to be a caregiver to Matthew’s mum and to her aging parents.
Sadly, Angela is no stranger to tragedy. Angela was by her sister’s side as she fought a 5 year battle with cancer until she finally succumbed to the disease in June 2019.
In his 47 years, Matthew made an indelible impression on everyone he touched. He was a full of fun. He loved life and loved being in the company of friends and family. Despite the obvious devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic, Matthew found a silver lining for himself and his family over the past year. Because of the pandemic, Matthew made the choice to change his profession and, as a result he, was the happiest man on the planet. He had found a better work life balance, something he had craved for a long time, and, he was finally able to spend a lot of quality time with Angela, their two girls and their aging parents.
Those who knew Matthew will never forget him and his memory will live on through his children. Our hope is to raise 75K to help Angela with the girls’ post-secondary education.
