Unexpected death of a wife and mother of 3

Dear Friends and Family,

It’s with a heavy heart I need to talk about the death of our daughter-in-law Megan Burt at the young age of 36. Megan Burt and Jay Parisi contracted Covid around August 26th. Megan was 25 weeks pregnant with their son. As most know, Covid during pregnancy can be very serious. On Sept. 2nd Megan was admitted into the hospital for dehydration and exhaustion. The hospital hydrated her, checked the vitals of mom and baby, and released her on Friday morning.
Over that weekend, Megan was still exhausted while trying to stay moving. On the morning of Sept 6th Jay called 911 due to Megan’s breathing. She was rushed to the hospital and immediately put on a ventilator. On Sept. 10th the doctors decided to air lift her to Winnie Palmer Hospital, a hospital for women and babies. They needed to come up with a plan to help both mom and unborn baby boy. A rollercoaster ride developed for Megan and the baby over the next couple of days. An emergency C section was necessary for both Megan and the baby’s lives. On Sept. 13th Maverick was born at 1.13 oz 14.5 in long at only 25 weeks.
Once Maverick was born, he was rushed to NICU and remains there now. His birth relieved some of Megan’s issues, but ultimately did not save her life. With a heavy heart, Megan passed away on Oct 1st. The amazing doctors and nurses of both ORMC and Winnie Palmer made it possible for Megan and her baby to connect skin to skin prior to her passing. Although this was a heart wrenching moment, it was a joyful experience to witness Mom and baby together for the last time.
Unfortunately, Jay and Megan hadn’t planned for any of this with life insurance. There are now end of life expenses, ongoing medical expenses for baby Maverick as he remains in the NICU until December and the cost of additional care for their now three children who are without their mother. We are asking for any assistance that may be within your means and prayers for the family and a life taken too soon.

Many thanks for your continued support and prayers. We love you all.,
