Uncle Robbie's Rest Easy Fund

Donation protected
Robert (Rob, Uncle Robbie, or anything else you may know him by) Maldonado has sadly passed away as of Wednesday, August 16th, 2023. Depending on what season of his life you met him, Rob was so many things.
Rob served in the United States Army in his younger years and wore his colors proudly. He traveled all over the world during active duty and although he saw things that nobody would be proud to admit, he would tell you "I would do it all over again to protect my country and the freedom of my people." He was a true example of a Proud American.
Rob spent the rest of his life in multiple states after his time in the military. He talked about all the adventures he had been on and all the people he's met.
He spent his last living years in Central Oregon where he built an incredible tribe, a chosen family if you will, in Redmond.
Being a disabled veteran, Rob was not able to work, and staying home alone is not fun for a people-loving guy like him! So he would walk into town every single day and hit all his favorite places to see all of his favorite people. Quickly, he became everyone else's favorite person too.
You see, Rob was one of the most unique people anyone had ever met. He would remember everyone's name and quickly give them a nickname. Every day when he was asked how he was doing he'd say "Groovy, man" and then he would always ask how the other person was, with genuine care to hear the answer.
Rob had very little to his name, but what he did have, he shared. If he ever saw someone having a bad day, he would give them his last dollar. He never had a complaint about anything, just pure gratefulness and joy for life.
There's a reason that many people called him Uncle Robbie- he acted as just that to almost everyone around him. He stood up for what he believed in, he was fast to protect those he loved, and he was a shoulder when he saw anybody who was down.
Needless to say, this loss is a great one for this community. Although our hearts are happy knowing that he is finally at peace from this life that fought him the entire way, we are also devastated knowing that his presence will not physically be here any longer.

We created this GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs and cremation expenses. Unfortunately, Rob had no ties to any of his blood family and was not able to leave much behind besides his beautiful spirit, which deserves to be celebrated. This fundraiser was set up as a way for the community to honor him as we were the only "family" he had.
If there are any funds left over, they will be donated to a local veterans resource program in hopes that veterans in the area can have access to more resources as they so desperately deserve.

Rest in Peace our dear friend. We hope you're groovy up there!
