Una casa ed una prospettiva futura per Eric e Mugisha

Siamo David e Arianna, due civilisti che stanno svolgendo il Servizio Civile Universale in Rwanda.

Abbiamo deciso di aprire una raccolta fondi a favore di due fratelli, Mugisha ed Eric, rispettivamente di 11 e 10 anni. Vivono in Rwanda (dove quest'anno ad aprile c'è stata la 30°ricorrenza dal genocidio più veloce e brutale della storia moderna nei confronti dei Tutsi) precisamente a Muhura, nel distretto di Gatzibo.

La loro madre li ha abbandonati 4 anni fa, il padre invece è stato investito 2 anni fa da un furgone che trasportava merci e da allora arranca a lavorare a causa delle problematiche fisiche dovute all'incidente.

Da parte di padre non ci sono parenti o persone che li possano aiutare o assistere nella loro crescita.

Non hanno mai avuto una casa, sono una famiglia che non ha possedimenti o altro.

In questo momento vivono, con il padre, in un capanno (vedi foto), al massimo di 5 mq, di una famiglia che lo utilizzava come mini deposito e ha deciso di metterlo a loro disposizione in cambio di prestazioni lavorative da parte del padre.

In questa loro “casa” sono presenti insetti e parassiti di varie tipologie; la situazione igienica è precaria, a dir poco, infatti sono sempre soggetti a contrarre malattie.

Non è presente un bagno né esterno né interno all’abitazione e non hanno mai avuto la disponibilità economica per comprare della carta igienica o uno spazzolino da denti.

Sono in uno stato di malnutrizione cronica, non hanno cibo a casa se non sporadicamente per una sera, quando il padre riesce a lavoricchiare da qualche parte.

L'altro giorno, il 15 maggio si sono lavati per la prima volta in vita loro i denti, erano buffissimi e tenerissimi. Non sapevano nemmeno come impugnare lo spazzolino.

Il 16 maggio hanno provato la sensazione della doccia calda.

Per loro fortuna, due anni fa, una ragazza che li ha conosciuti durante il suo Servizio Civile, è riuscita ad iscriverli a scuola, loro continuavano a manifestare la volontà di studiare, imparare e stare tra gli altri bambini. Da allora hanno un pasto garantito al giorno, per 5 giorni a settimana, e la possibilità di ricevere un istruzione.

Questa ragazza aveva lasciato 400€ alla scuola per la loro retta, solo che ora questi soldi sono finiti e loro rischiano di essere cacciati, perdendo oltre la possibilità a studiare anche il loro unico pasto della giornata, se nessuno cerca di dargli una mano.

Nonostante questo, nei 9 mesi da quando siamo qui ed abbiamo avuto la possibilità di conoscerli, passare le nostre giornate e lavorare assieme a loro si sono dimostrati, a differenza di molti altri ragazzi che stanno in situazioni migliori, solidali con gli altri, gentili, volenterosi di fare, sorridenti nei confronti della vita, genuinamente bambini, dolci, perfetti nella loro imperfezione.

L'unica cosa che gli manca è avere un milionesimo delle possibilità e privilegi con cui ogni bambino del primo mondo nasce ma di cui ogni essere vivente dovrebbe aver diritto…

Questa raccolta fondi ha lo scopo di provare a dare una prospettiva futura ad Eric e Mugisha attraverso:

• IL PAGAMENTO DELLA RETTA SCOLASTICA DELLA SCUOLA PRIMARIA CHE FREQUENTANO

(50 euro cadauno al trimestre; un'annualità costa 300€ in totale per entrambi)

• L'ACQUISTO DI UNA CASA DIGNITOSA PER L'AMBIENTE IN CUI VIVONO fatta di mattoni di fango essiccati al sole e con il tetto in lamiera, di una 30 di mq. Composta da 2 camere ed un salotto dove poter cucinare autonomamente con l'ausilio del carbone o del legno come fonte di calore

• L’ACQUISTO DI STRUMENTI ED ARREDAMENTO ESSENZIALE PER LA CASA

• L’ACQUISTO DI UNA MUCCA che può attraverso il latte essere fonte di reddito e un pasto quotidiano in più

We are David and Arianna, two civil servants of Universal Civil Service in Rwanda.

We have decided to open a fundraiser for two brothers, Mugisha and Eric, aged 11 and 10 respectively. They live in Rwanda (where this year in April marked the 30th anniversary of the fastest and most brutal genocide in modern history against the Tutsi) precisely in Muhura, in the Gatzibo district.

Their mother abandoned them 4 years ago, while their father was hit by a van carrying goods 2 years ago and has since struggled to work due to physical issues from the accident.

On the father's side, there are no relatives or people who can help or assist them in their growth.

They have never had a home; they are a family without possessions or anything else.

At the moment, they live with their father in a shack (see photo), at most 5 square meters, which a family used as a mini storage and decided to make available to them in exchange for labor from the father.

This "home" of theirs is infested with various types of insects and parasites; the hygiene situation is precarious, to say the least, as they are always prone to contracting diseases.

There is no bathroom, neither external nor internal to the house, and they have never had the financial means to buy toilet paper or a toothbrush.

They are in a state of chronic malnutrition, and they have no food at home except sporadically for one evening when the father manages to scrape something together somewhere.

The other day, on May 15, they brushed their teeth for the first time in their lives; they were hilarious and adorable. They didn't even know how to hold the toothbrush.

On May 16, they experienced the sensation of a warm shower for the first time.

Fortunately for them, two years ago, a girl who got to know them during her Civil Service managed to enroll them in school; they continued to show the desire to study, learn, and be among other children. Since then, they have one guaranteed meal a day, for 5 days a week, and the opportunity to receive an education.

This girl had left €400 at the school for their fees, but now this money has run out, and they risk being expelled, losing not only the opportunity to study but also their only meal of the day if no one tries to help them.

Despite this, in the 9 months since we've been here and had the opportunity to get to know them, spend our days and work with them, they have shown themselves, unlike many other children in better situations, to be supportive of others, kind, eager to work, smiling towards life, genuinely children, sweet, perfect in their imperfection.

The only thing they lack is to have a millionth of the opportunities and privileges with which every child in the first world is born, but which every living being should have the right to...

This fundraiser aims to try to give a future perspective to Eric and Mugisha through:

• PAYMENT OF THE PRIMARY SCHOOL FEES THEY ATTEND

(50 euros each per trimester; a year costs a total of 300€ for both)

• PURCHASE OF A DECENT HOME FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THEY LIVE IN made of sun-dried mud bricks and with a tin roof, about 30 square meters. Composed of 2 bedrooms and a living room where they can cook independently using charcoal or wood as a heat source

• PURCHASE OF ESSENTIAL TOOLS AND FURNISHINGS FOR THE HOME

(3 beds, kitchenware, and a few other things)

• PURCHASE OF A COW which can be a source of income through milk and an extra daily meal

• SCHOOL AND DAILY UTILITY MATERIALS
