Emergency food parcels for UmRio families

Donation protected
UmRio is an NGO that uses rugby to engage young people in education, employability and health programmes. They do incredible work supporting hundreds of young people aged 5-25 who live in Morro do Castro, a favela in Rio de Janeiro state. I'm raising money to support these vulnerable families during the current pandemic.

Nearly 70% of parents UmRio works with are single parents. With schools now closed, children aren't getting school meals. 93% of mothers in Rio's favelas expect to go hungry if isolation continues into May. With such extreme financial pressures, the children we work with are at even higher risk than usual of being driven into the drug trade or child labour.

UmRio launched a distribution of emergency food parcels  in March as a new way of helping these families. Each parcel costs approximately £25 and provides essential food and sanitary items for a family for one month. 100% of families told UmRio that their delivery made them feel safer.

As a very unsporty person, I'm training to do push-ups... I'm starting this unable to do one, so I'll post updates as I (hopefully) improve. Please donate to encourage me! It would mean the world to UmRio if we can raise enough funds to ensure 100 families feel safer next month too. Thank you.
