UMOJA CARAVANE - danse for a better future

Hello, I am Mussa, and I would like to tell you the story of UMOJA CARAVANE...
In the chaos of war, many children from Kibumba lost everything – their parents, their homes, their sense of security. Fleeing violence and destruction, they arrived in Goma, alone, unprotected, forced to fight for survival every single day. No family, no shelter, no guiding hand to hold.
I am a dancer – and I have seen their suffering. I have watched these children wander the streets, lost, without hope. And I knew I had to do something. Dance is more than just movement. It is expression, liberation, and healing. Through dance, we can tell our pain, process our trauma, and regain our inner strength.
This is how UMOJA CARAVANE was born. We met these children, listened to their stories, and danced with them. Step by step, we helped them express their wounds through movement – wounds filled with pain but also an incredible will to survive. And the more we danced, the more hope began to grow within them.
But we face a major challenge: these children have no safe place to go. We dance in the streets, in difficult conditions. But they deserve better. They deserve a space where they can feel safe, learn, and grow.
That is why we are asking for your support. With 40,588 €, we can provide 78 children with:
✅ Education: 120 € per child/year → 9,360 €
✅ Healthcare: 73 € per child/year → 5,694 €
✅ Nutritious meals: 53 € per child/year → 4,134 €
✅ A safe home: Rent for a year → 2,700 €
✅ Training & activities: Annual costs → 5,700 €
✅ A dance stage: One-time construction → 5,000 €
✅ Essential materials: Instruments, costumes & learning tools → 8,000 €
With your support, we can create a safe space where these children can find refuge, heal their wounds through dance, and rebuild their future – a future that is no longer just about survival, but about joy, creativity, and hope.
Let’s dance together – for hope, for change, for the children of UMOJA CARAVANE.
