Hello my loves! Stephen the “Umbrella Guy” here. I’m a local 32 year old, lgbtq+, healthcare worker based in San Diego. On my time off, I hand out water and food throughout Hillcrest and the surrounding communities. The majority of people I interact with are unhoused and express that they are immobile or do not leave their sites for a variety of reasons. So far, it has been a one person operation and I have been purchasing the food and water on my own. For every 3 mile walk, I hand out well over 100 food items and water bottles. The need is MUCH greater than I imagined and I can’t keep up financially. I would love to continue serving the community, but I need your help. Let’s work together and gather under the umbrella to help combat food insecurity and houselessness in San Diego!
