Hello, my name is Brian Mattson.

I was a frontline worker during the pandemic in the field of occupational therapy.

During the pandemic, I was working in Manhattan and saw a lot of death, freezer trucks, and crazy things at the time.

I developed insomnia and started self-medicating with alcohol. This eventually had an impact on my interpersonal relationships with friends, family, and eventually led to the dissolution of my marriage. I had a couple of scrapes with the law as well, which I am still trying to get past. I eventually sought help and spent time away, 118 days in a rehab facility in Pennsylvania and then 25 days in a dual diagnosis inpatient facility. After all was said and done, I was not able to go home and found myself homeless. I left Pennsylvania and made my way back to NY. I locked down a job after two weeks of being there. I had the job, which I basically lived at secretly, and showered at the gym. Things were seemingly improving. Despite all this, I still managed to pay the mortgage on a house I don't live in, electric, car payment, cell bill, groceries, school supplies for the kids, and everything else. Meanwhile, I can't move ahead. So now my past catches up and court stuff starts coming up. I get laid off from work. I just want to get past this chapter in my life but it seems impossible. I have no one to fall back on; both my parents are gone from cancer. Just typing this is making me want to throw up because I have always worked hard to be independent.

I am not a person to ask for help, but I am out of options. Cornered. A friend of mine suggested I do this.
