Ultraman for SRCC
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Jamie,
In May 2023 I will be competing in my first Ultraman Race in Noosa,Australia. The 3 day race consists of 10km swim,421.1km bike ride and 84.3km run.
There are many personal motivations for competing in this year's Ultraman including Sobriety and goals around physical and mental health. However without the support of my family, friends and community I could never imagine embarking on such a challenging journey.
For this event I will be raising funds for Shirley Robertson Children's Centre(SRCC)in Coburg,Melbourne.SRCC is a community managed Early Childhood Centre that my family has been supported by over the past 12 years.Alongside my youngest 2 children having previously attended the centre and my eldest having worked there, the educators and management have provided unwavering support to aboriginal foster children my family have had the honor to care for over the years.
The staff at SRCC go above and beyond their roles to ensure they provide a safe, welcoming, inclusive, creative, loving and nurturing enviroment in the formative years for children's developments and exploration of the world Their support and commitment to ensure each child’s needs are not only met materially, but socially, emotionally, and culturally has enabled my family to continue longer term fostering of young children in ways that ensure their individuality, sense of value and belonging are nurtured from the moment they step inside the Centre.
The impact they have had on the children we have fostered, who often come into our care with additional support requirements, largely goes unacknowledged and unrewarded. Fundraising for the Centre is but a small way I can give back to a community that has provided critical and loving support not only to the young children that attend the Centre, but to myself and my family.
All funds raised will go directly to Shirley Robertson Children’s Centre to support their continued work specifically in Indigenous Education and Awareness, and to financially contribute to staff training and support to enable the Centre to continue their ongoing work on embedding First Nations perspectives, culture and histories into their work.
I think it is important to support those who support us, and without community and giving to others there is no community.
Also, a big thank you to everyone from family..all my girls..friends..coaches..crew..you all know who you are!
So, let’s raise some money! Forget buying a beer or wine donate some money instead, no baby chinos this week even $2 will make a difference!
There are links below for anyone who wants to follow the ride from the comfort of your couch I will do all the hard work you just need to donate some $$ and Love !!
Peace out
Jamie
