CHD2 Awareness Day 2.2.22

Sam is our boy of hope.

He is a lovely, kind and gentle 11 year old kid with a genetic mutation called Chd2. Although genetic mutations occur naturally in all of us, this mutation causes autism, epilepsy, learning difficulties and physical challenges for Sam. The doctors/geneticists are on the case and they have been studying genetic variations for many years. There is a team of geneticists at the Center for Pediatric Neurological Disease Research in Memphis, USA that need our support. They are doing stem cell research using methods that do not test on animals, and are costly. The research is amazing, and they could uncover the answer to many health questions that could benefit every one of us!

This year a charity was founded called Coalition to Cure Chd2 (CCC). The charity is raising awareness about the rare genetic condition that affects only 205 currently known people in the world, including Sam.

This summer (July - September 2021) Sam and his family will cycle 100 km to raise money for CCC. Regular updates will be posted on Christine and Matt Wheildon’s Facebook page and Instagram. Please help us to support this important cause so that Sam may one day live a life free of seizures. Our boy of hope.
