Hi,
My family is raising money to help what remains of two Ukrainian families that have moved here to Minnesota.
My wife is originally from St. Petersburg Russia (former USSR) where she was persecuted and escaped to come here about 30 years ago. Now, Minnesota is home to a good sized Russian speaking community so we have banded together with some of our friends to bring war torn Ukrainian families here.
My wife and I are looking after what remains of two families (shown in the cover picture, taken when we dropped off some toys for the boys). Both families were victims of Russian/Ukrainian artillery strikes. The younger boy (9 yrs old) lost his father, sibling, and his arm in an explosion. His father covered him and his sibling during the strike but both the father and the sibling were killed. The older boy (12 has a similar story but lost his leg instead. The Moms (in the picture) have shared absolute heart wrenching stories of carnage. Being a combat veteran myself, I can assure you, this is something a child should never have to endure.
Our group has found them (and other families) apartments close to us. Government funding has been minimal so we’ve had to scrape together donations of furniture, household goods, toys, etc. Soon these families will need other items to enable them to work (when allowed).
Please give what you can to help our front line efforts for these families
Thanks,
Dave and Olga
