Magda is a retired 70 year old Polish grandmother and has taken in a couple of families of Ukrainians who have fled the war. These women and children are safe in her late mother's flat near Warsaw. Reaching safety doesn't mean that their story ends at the Polish border.
Her generosity needs support with the basic living costs such as food, clothing, heating, electricity and washing.
At the moment there is no help from the Polish government or EU to provide any financial aid.
None of us can predict how long they may have to live with her and these costs will be a difficult burden to sustain even with the help of her two children.
Although we consider this to be amazing and kind, she isn't unique as there are a number of her friends that have also taken in Ukrainian families and the money raised here will also help these other families too.
