UKCOM Student Effort for Tornado Relief in KY.

In the late-night/early morning hours of Saturday, December 11th, 2021, several parts of Kentucky, including Mayfield, and Bowling Green were devastated by an onslaught of heavy thunderstorms that precipitated several tornadoes.

As students at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, we are committed to providing aid and relief to our community members in those areas most devastated by last night's storms. We are asking for your help in making sure we can meet the needs of our most vulnerable communities. These funds will aid us in helping local organizations that are providing aid to those displaced and in need of supplies, etc. We will be using the funds to directly supply those organizations with a monetary donation, and also to purchase additional supplies that are needed the most by our communities, whether that be clothing, food, etc.

We send our deepest sympathies and condolences to those who have been affected by the storms and tornadoes. This student-run effort will ensure that we can help take care of those in our community who need it most. We would be incredibly grateful for any contributions towards our goal, our main priority is making sure our communities are safe and taken care of.  Thank you.

Edited to add: We are raising our funds to help members of those communities that have been the most devastated. These are our neighbors, our friends, our family, and those who we love the most. The funds will go to families and those who are the most in need. We will be directly talking with local school districts, International Centers, and Refugee Initiatives, as well as local area organizations who are working to support and provide aid to those who have been affected.

Edited to add (12/13):
We will be creating a specific account to place the funds in that is through the University of Kentucky College of Medicine-Bowling Green campus. This will be a direct extension of our current account that we have in place for students. The only individuals who will have access to the account would be me and an administrator on campus to help oversee the process. This will not be a personal account.

"We" are the students of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. Several of us know of direct needs and contacts in several communities and are already in talks to provide donations to those communities, and organizations. We have several students (over 10) who are working very closely as a team to ensure that we are covering all needs in all cities. We are also continuously surveying classmates and other individuals to ensure that immediate needs are covered as we receive them.
