UK Paper Band Sittingbourne ‘Up North' Tour

The UK Paper Band Sittingbourne has not organised a tour for many years and are excited to be visiting the home of brass bands on our 'Up North' tour 1st - 4th May 2026. We will be basing ourselves in Rochdale and have arranged a joint concert with the 2nd Rossendale Scout Band based in Bacup. The brass band community is thriving in the area and this is an outstanding band made up mainly of 6-25 year olds who play with many other bands including recently the world renowned Black Dyke Band.
Our conductor Dan comes from Stockport, and in addition to this joint venture with the Scout Band has been able to secure a concert on the Sunday evening at the Boarshurst Band Club in Oldham. Many great brass bands play concerts here, which are live streamed around the world.
This will promote Sittingbourne and Kent to another area and the band’s proud tradition of it's connection with the Sittingbourne paper industry. The band was formed as a social activity for the workers in the paper mill in 1883 and is going from strength to strength.
As you can imagine the cost of such a trip for some 25 musicians is considerable including coach hire and accommodation. The band is self funding and the majority of the cost will be paid by the individual members of the band themselves. We will be organising fund raising activities in addition to this page to hopefully reduce the costs involved.
Whilst the band carries out concerts for a fee during the year, the income goes towards the running costs of the band, rather than any payment to individual band members who volunteer their time and involvement with the band.
If anyone is able to assist the band towards the cost of this trip, we would be most grateful. Any donation, however small would be gratefully received.
