UK Coast to Coast Cycling Challenge

The 300-kilometre Coast-to-Coast Cycling Challenge aims to support the Hertfordshire-based charity “Herts Welcomes Refugees”.

Thanks to Herts Welcomes Refugees, Hertfordshire has become a much more welcoming place to live for asylum seekers, refugees and migrants from around the world. This fantastic volunteer-led charity welcomes newcomers to the region by providing a wide range of one-to-one and group support – from welcoming new families, running English classes, to providing vital donations to the most vulnerable. The charity has also been advocating on behalf of refugees and asylum seekers, successfully raising public awareness in the local community.

My name is Tomasz Glinski, and I have been working in the charity sector supporting refugees and migrants for over 10 years. I currently work at the British Refugee Council as an Area Manager in Hertfordshire. In the past, I initiated and established several bicycle groups and projects for refugees, asylum seekers and migrants. One of them received the “Best National Sustainable Travel Initiative in the Community” award from Modeshift - East Yorkshire Refugee Bicycle Club in 2018.

Cycling and charity work are among my biggest life passions. That is the reason I decided to take on this challenge. I plan to cycle from Southend-on-Sea to Portishead just outside Bristol for three days in September 2022. I’m reaching out to you all to see what pennies/pounds I can convince you to share to this worthy cause.
