Support for Ashley and Baby After Addie’s Passing
Donation protected
On August 11, 2023, our treasured and beloved Adeline Ansell (they/them) passed away after living with melanoma for eight years. By their side the entire time was their wife and our friend Ashley Mallon, who provided our dear Addie with unconditional love and care while they underwent various cancer treatments over the years. In sickness and in health, Addie and Ashley were one of those couples who brought so much joy, laughter, wisdom, and adventure to their many communities.
In May of this year, Ashley had one of Addie’s embryos transferred into her and their baby is due in January 2024. Our community is so excited to welcome this extension of Addie and Ashley’s love story and it is incredibly important to all of us that Ashley be as comfortable and well-situated as possible as she embarks on this journey of motherhood while grieving.
Ashley will be able to take off six months from work after the baby is born, but will not be collecting a paycheck for the majority of that time. She’s already had to use some of her paid time off to care for Addie this past year and in the weeks following Addie’s death.
Donations raised by this GoFundMe will go to supporting Ashley during her unpaid time off as well as for the paycheck Addie would have brought in (They were an incredible Boston Public School teacher!). In addition to some of Ashley’s average daily expenses, items the funds will cover include a postpartum doula, overnight nurse, childcare for when Ashley returns to work, and food and supplies for the baby. If there are leftover funds, they will go into a college savings account for the child.
We are all so grateful for the love and happiness Ashley gifted Addie in their too short time here with us. This fundraiser is our small way to not only support Ashley during this unimaginable period of hope and grief, but to say thank you for making our friend’s life a joyful and loving one. Any amount you’re willing to contribute is so immensely appreciated. And if you’re unable to contribute financially at the moment, sharing this fundraiser with your family and friends would mean the world to us as well.
Thank you and we love you!
