Ugandan Family in Need of Help

Donation protected
Francis is one of the first friends I met when I lived in Uganda four years ago. He has been a wonderful and generous friend to me and now he and his family are in urgent need of help.

Francis works in the conservation ecotourism sector and recently founded the Save The Lions Organization. His tour company, Angara Tours Ltd., takes clients on excursions around East Africa to view some of the region's most impressive wildlife. On a recent trip back, I learned Francis had been robbed while delivering client funds for three gorilla permits to the Uganda Wildlife Authority. On August 6th, he withdrew USD 1,950 from a Forex Bureau in Kampala. As he was leaving, there was a foot-traffic jam in the corridor for which he had to slow down. After having passed, he realized just minutes later that the envelope of cash was no longer in his pocket. He ran back and requested to see the security footage at the Forex but the manager informed him their cameras do not reach the corridor where the incident occurred. He filed a police report but since he doesn't know what the thieves looked like, recovering the stolen money is not looking hopeful.

Nearly $2,000 is a lot of money for anyone to lose, especially for a small company that builds its business on goodwill and strong relationships. Because Francis works closely with UWA, they have agreed to hold the three permits until he can come up with payment. His clients are intending to visit for their gorilla-trekking trip at the end of October, around three weeks from now. If he cannot secure the permits in time, he fears his clients will report him to the police thinking that he perhaps defrauded them. His business and, more importantly, his family will suffer if he is imprisoned.

Francis has one of the brightest outlooks on life of anyone I've met. But he shared with me that he feels helpless and depressed as he tries to come up with the lost funds. They are preparing to sell their car and other personal items to make up the difference. His wife Brenda has been losing sleep regularly. His two young sons need their dad around. The family could use all the help they can get so I hope you will consider donating to this cause.

NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL AND THAT IS THE TRUTH!

That being said, I'd like to send some Ugandan handcrafts I recently picked up to the highest three donors. Thank you all in advance for your kindness and generosity xo.
