Uganda Volunteer Photography Trip

Hey there, everyone! My name is Mandi, and I'd like to first thank you for taking a moment to read my story and learn a bit more about why I am doing this :)

For those of you who know me, you know that I'm a traveler, a roaming spirit, and a photographer. One of my biggest passions in life is traveling and experiencing the different people and cultures of the world... my photography is evidence of that. I love sharing my adventures and the beauty in the places I go and the people I meet. My art thrives in telling their stories; capturing their real moments and beauty, whether it is a destination, a festival, a mountain... there is beauty and inspiration to be found everywhere you look!

I have discovered that there are a lot of stories out there that are waiting to be told! 

That's where you come in.

I am fundraising for an opportunity I have received to do some work with the non-profit organization, Global Autism Project. This July I will be traveling to Uganda for two weeks as a volunteer photographer. 

The Global Autism Project works across the world, promoting the acceptance and integration of people with autism by training local educators in culturally relevant, sustainable practices. Millions of children with autism have no access to education, and are often hidden from their communities. Teachers have little or no access to proper training that would support autistic students, and families have no support networks. 

In July, I'll be traveling to Uganda to photograph their new site there and document their programs, impact, and most importantly, the stories of these volunteers, dedicated professionals. and the families they help serve. I'll be working alongside local advocates, teachers, families and leaders working to create an education system and understanding for people with autism in their country. I will meet children who have never been to school. I will connect with parents who are desperate to learn. And I will collaborate with the leaders working with Global Autism Project every single day.

I am traveling to tell their stories; to capture the beautiful moments of the passionate teachers and their students. My photographs will not only be given to The Global Autism Project, but also given to the school, shared in the community and will serve as a message of hope to families around the world, as well as helping to promote and build the giving network that is the Global Autism Project on a world-wide scale.
