Neonatal Unit at CUMH & Bru Columbanus Fundraiser
Donation protected
As some of you might know our beautiful little girl arrived in the world back in January, almost 13 weeks early and weighing just 610g/1.3lbs. Thanks to the amazing staff in the Neonatal Unit at CUMH she was cared for and nursed back to health during her 3 months stay in the intensive care unit there. We were amazed everyday by the work that all the dedicated, nurses, consultants, doctors and physios do there and by all the premature babies in their care and would like to give back.
They are currently fundraising for cold lights to help to see the babies veins for drips and blood sampling. And you can imagine how tiny those baby veins are and the detailed work that it is! But so worthy and life saving. They are also in need of more breast feeding chairs for the mums who spend hours each day with their babies, unable to do all the things they had imagined they would be doing with their new baby at home.
We also were fortunate enough to be able to stay close by with our little girl and not have to face the daily drive from Waterford to Cork. Bru Columbanus was a life saver for us and meant we could be on call, close by 24 hours a day. We found there a homely sanctuary, our own private room and the shared kitchens gave us the chance to meet and live with other parents going through the same thing as us. I don't know what we would have done without Bru. So we would like to be able to help them out too, as donations are what enables them to continue this amazing service.
