Help Rebuild After Hurricane Helene

Hello! I am hosting this GoFundMe for my sister, who is also a mother and a wonderful friend. She would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it.

As we all know too well, Hurricane Helene ripped through Western North Carolina and left us with much devastation and some with total losses. My sister lives in a small mobile home park that suffered a variety of damages. Several lost their homes completely due to flooding or downed trees, some had damages that are deemed repairable but at this time “unsafe to live”. My sister was on the more fortunate end, or so we thought initially.

Two days after the hurricane, we made our way to her home to see if it took any water. At that time, it appeared very minimal, but we were unable to do an assessment inside due to inaccessibility. Over the weeks we have been able to gain better access and are finding that 90% of her home will need all new flooring as well as decontamination. She applied for FEMA help, but their assessment was completed prior to fully accessing the home and identifying internal damages therefore her help was minimal. This has created a significant, actually impossible, hardship for her to financially afford the repairs. Her family is working hard to try to help in every way possible but it really takes a village.

I know everyone has been impacted in some way but I have seen the communities pull together through this and make the impossible happen.
