Hi Everyone,
I am Wade Lees a former player for the UCLA football team. My Wife Caitlin Plummer who helped me create this campaign created this page to raise awareness and funding for the families and wildlife that are suffering in the Australian bushfires. Catastrophic fires, the worst drought in Australian history and record high temperatures are taking a tragic toll on both Australian families and the native wildlife. Although the media has died down, Australia continues to suffer.
On Wednesday, January 29th we are asking the Bruin family to dig deep and band together for this cause.
To Date:
Over 40 MILLION ACRES of land has been burnt
(That's the size of Maryland, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Vermont, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Connecticut combined!)
Over 1 BILLION animals have died
(Koalas are now facing extinction)
Over 3000 houses have been lost
All the donations will go directly to Ellen Degeneres' Australia Fund supporting the Red Cross and WIRES Wildlife Rescue. When disaster strikes, the Red Cross provides essential shelter, food, and health services to those affected. WIRES is Australia's largest wildlife rescue organization. I don't have any relationship with this campaign other than to help out those who have lost precious things. My wife will be transferring the money to her account and then sending the proceeds immediately to the Ellen Foundation. We will post on social media platforms as soon as it has been donated.
Witnessing this disaster first hand when I visited my home, Australia, over Christmas I felt helpless and wanted to contribute and spread awareness about those that are suffering.
