Hi everyone, my name is Ciara & I'm a student on the Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic Masters programme in University College Dublin. This June, I will be volunteering with UCD Volunteer Overseas in the Church of Uganda Kisiizi Hospital. Alongside other UCDVO volunteers, I will be assisting staff from the Kisiizi Hospital in a Community/Paediatric Rehab programme for children with Cerebral Palsy.

In order to raise funds for this hospital, I will be running 100 miles (160km) over the month of March - finishing with the Dublin City Half Marathon on the 30th!

The Church of Uganda Kisiizi Hospital is a not-for-profit community hospital in Southwest Uganda. The hospital provides multiple services to the local community, such as community-based outreach clinics, vaccination and rehabilitation programmes, and a HIV and antiretroviral treatment centre.

The funds raised for Kisiizi Hospital will be directed towards the hospital’s rehab programme, including staff and essential equipment for children with disabilities. Any contribution will make a huge difference to these children. Volunteers are required to cover the costs of their flights, visas and vaccinations.
