UCD Volunteering Overseas, MOEI Education Project, Cambodia

Hi, my name is Jessica Collins and I am a first year Music Film and Drama student in UCD. This Summer I will be travelling to Cambodia for 5 weeks to volunteer with UCD Volunteers Overseas in the MOEI Education project. My role within this project is to teach English to students attending local, free community schools. I aim to provide an interactive and enjoyable learning environment for all students.

I will be covering my own expenses for the trip, including flights, vaccinations and various other costs. This results in your incredibly kind donations going straight to this wonderful cause.

The MOEI programme was formed in 2008 to provide intensive English language education for migrant children and adults from Burma located along the Moei River section of the Thai-Burma border.

In the hopes of reaching my target I will be partaking in Freezebury. Freezebury is an annual challenge that involves getting into open, freezing water every day in February. The challenge involves spending a certain amount of time in the freezing water, depending on the date. For example, February 1st sees swimmers endure the cold for one minute. February 2nd, two minutes, and so on. I invite people to join me in this challenge whenever and wherever they can and let’s do freezebury for Cambodia :)
