Sadaqah Jariyah for our beloved Mother

Help Us Build a Water Well in Memory of Our Beloved Mother, Salwa Mohammed Abdalla.

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved and magical mother, Salwa Mohammed Abdalla, who tragically left us on March 6, 2025.

Anyone who knew her knows how deeply she cared for others. She gave even when she had nothing. She sought out those in need, whether in person or online, always finding a way to help. She would quietly leave food for hospital cleaners, ensure struggling families had something to eat, and always kept cash on hand to give to those less fortunate.

The word “Salwā” (سلوى) appears in the Quran in reference to the quail that was provided as food for the Israelites by Allah.

In all these verses, “Salwā” refers to the quail sent by Allah as a blessing to the Israelites in the desert.

Now, we want to honor her giving spirit in a way that continues to benefit others—just as she always did.

Why a Water Well?

In Islam, one of the most powerful forms of charity is Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity)—a good deed that provides ongoing rewards for the deceased. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said:

“When a person dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah (continuous charity), beneficial knowledge, or a righteous child who prays for him.” (Sahih Muslim)

A water well is one of the greatest gifts we can give in her name. It will provide clean water to those in need for years to come, bringing immense blessings to both the people it serves and to our mother in the hereafter.
