Leen's family in Lebanon
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Leen and I'm a Palestinian refugee from Lebanon. I'm currently living in Cork.
My family were displaced from Palestine during the Nakba and forced to move to refugee camps in Beirut.
Last year, during the height of the bombardment of Beirut, my family were forced to flee their home in Beirut, including my 96-year old grandmother. My father stayed behind to work as a nurse in the local hospital.
They have now returned and thankfully, our home was not destroyed but there was significant damage caused by nearby explosions.
My family's main source of income is my father's salary at the refugee hospital but unfortunately, due to recent events and restrictions on the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, his salary has been significantly reduced (50%).
This is an extremely difficult time for my family as they try to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of the bombing. On top of this, my mother has had to undergo a significant surgery and the cost of medicines and physiotherapy is proving to be a huge challenge.
Anything you can do to help get through the next few months would be greatly appreciated as we try to figure out a way to make ends meet.
Thank you so much,
Leen
