€115 helped Stella start growing maize. This small investment now helps her pay for food, school uniforms and medicine for her children.
She repaid the loan, and the money can now help another woman start her dream business.

At Ubuntu 4 Change, one donation creates more than just one opportunity.
We help women in Kampala, Uganda turn small business ideas into a sustainable and independent source of income through financing, basic business training and six months of local support. The women choose and run their own business. Our role is to give them the funding, tools and support to get started. As their businesses grow, part of the funding is repaid and put to work again for the next group of women, so your donation keeps moving.

What makes the U4C microcredit special is the Ubuntu philosophy, which roughly translates to “I am because we are”. When one woman repays her funding, she helps make the next woman’s opportunity possible. The success of one group creates opportunities for the next. This gives everyone a reason to root for each other.

Alongside the financing, we work to build a community among the women involved. They meet regularly, share what is working and what isn’t, talk through challenges and support each other, in business and in life.

We’re on the ground
Our local collaborators at NASSO stay close to the women throughout the process, helping the business develop on a daily basis and keeping the connection between each group alive.
We also travel to Kampala regularly and meet all women, understand what is happening on the ground and keep improving our

Why only women?
In Uganda, women are often excluded from conventional finance and are less likely to have collateral or assets registered in their name, making it harder to access the capital needed to start a business.

Moreover, when a woman earns more, the impact often reaches beyond her business: the benefits of economic growth affect tend to spread to kids and family, spanning from health to education.

Another important effect is independence. Running a business, earning an income and having control of financial resources can strengthen a woman’s ability to make decisions for herself and her family.

Does it really work?
Yes! So far, Ubuntu 4 Change has financed 23 women across 4 different batches, with each batch helping make the next one possible and teaching us how to improve ourselves. If you don't believe it, have a look to the pictures!

Where does a donation go?
€115 is the average amount of direct financing provided to one woman’s business.
€1,700 funds a complete round, including business financing, six months of local support and operating costs.

And because repayments are used again, your donation keeps living: part of the money you contribute today goes on to support future women too!

We are ProSpes, a no-profit association dedicated to helping young people develop their talent, ideas and untapped potential.
