*THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone who has contributed! Go With The Flow is still collecting donations- all donations after the initial $1,500 will be used to support other local schools facing menstrual product insecurity.*
Per Virginia Senate Bill 232, Virginia middle and high schools are required to provide free menstrual products in every school restroom, however, one thing VA SB 232 doesn’t provide is funding for these products. Insufficient funding leaves many schools, including Matoaca, incapable of supplying their restrooms. Go With The Flow’s goal of $1,500 will provide an ENTIRE YEAR’S worth of menstrual products for Matoaca High students!
In addition to combatting menstrual product insecurity at Matoaca High, Go With The Flow is also raising awareness about the insufficient funding of VA SB 232. The bill was passed in 2020, but has gone unfunded and failed to receive a budget amendment for the past 5 years, leaving many schools incapable of following the mandate. The Go With The Flow campaign is advocating for a budget amendment, which would enable Virginia public schools to finally support their menstruating students.
Through collective action, we can end menstrual product insecurity and help our students get back to going with their flows! Your contribution is the first step towards ending menstrual product insecurity and helping schools overcome the insufficient funding of Virginia Senate Bill 232.
100% of funds collected through the Go With The Flow campaign will be used to purchase menstrual products for use by Matoaca High School students. Edited to add: all funds raised after the initial goal of $1,500 will be used to support other local schools facing menstrual product insecurity.
