Help Immigrant Families with Rent and Utilities

The ICE surge happening in the Twin Cities has been devastating to immigrant families. Thousands of families are affected. People are afraid to go to work for fear of getting detained. People are afraid to go to the grocery store or even leave their own home. Some families are left without their parent(s) and young adults have been left to be the primary caregiver. The needs are monumental.

Here are just a few mutual aid requests we have received.
  • I have a mother and toddler in need of (primarily financial) assistance in Rosemount because the father has been taken.
  • My name is XXX and I am reaching out on behalf of a neighbor. Their family was detained by ice and flown to Texas. They are unable and very afraid to come out of their apartment and are facing eviction if their rent isn't paid before 10am Friday 1/23/26. We live in the Woods of Burnsville in Burnsville, MN. They have $1,100 but do not have funds to cover the rest. The office gave them till Friday before submitting paperwork to the courts. The total rent is $1,698
  • I am reaching out on behalf of a community of immigrant-owned salon businesses located in Brooklyn Center who have been severely affected by the recent ICE activity. These individuals operate small, independently owned salons that primarily serve the immigrant community. Over the past several weeks, their businesses have experienced a dramatic decline in clients due to fear and instability within the community. As a result, they are now falling behind on rent and struggling to meet their own personal basic financial obligations. These are hardworking individuals who have built their businesses from the ground up, and the sudden loss of income has placed them in an extremely vulnerable position.

As you can see, the needs are GREAT. ICE is hurting families, communities and neighbors alike.

Help families make ends meet during this difficult time by helping to contribute to their needs. Help with rent is the biggest need right now, next to utility bills. Your contribution will directly help families make ends meet in this very traumatic time.
