In 2021, Brayden and Rylan's mother, Julie James, met with doctors at Cambridge Memorial Hospital in Cambridge, Ontario. She was presented with a sentence that would change their lives forever, "Julie, you have cancer". Julie was diagnosed with stage three colon and rectal cancer. The love for her boys and the belief that she would win her fight against cancer got her through gruelling chemotherapy and radiation treatments. She fought for two years with determination and resilience.

In May of this year, Julie learnt that her cancer had spread to her liver and spine. There is unfortunately no medical therapy to slow down this aggressive cancer.

The reason for this GoFundMe is simple; as a community we need to give Brayden and Rylan some financial security. The loss of their mother will be insurmountable and the added stress of financial worries would be unbearable.
