A FATHER’S PLEA

Donation protected
I am Anthony L. McCants Sr. asking for help and support on behalf of my son, Anthony L. McCants Jr. better known as “AJ.” AJ is a 23-year-old God-fearing young man with a heart of gold. Known for his integrity, dedication, and service to others, AJ now faces a legal challenge he cannot overcome alone.
I am a proud father of eight biological children and eight more whom I consider my own and have always played an active role in all of their lives. As a parent, you naturally want to protect your children from all things harmful, however you quickly realize that task is not that easy. It is a helpless feeling to know that your child is struggling, but even more so when they are facing serious consequences.

I am not here to make light of the serious charges my son AJ faces. I am here pleading, first as a father, who wants to ensure that his son gets a fighting chance and then as a Black man, who understands all too well the challenges and biases that can exist within the judicial system. I fully believe in the importance of accountability, however my role as a parent remains the same. I will stand beside all of my children, offering support, love, and guidance as they navigate through tough moments.

AJ’s Story:
AJ has always stood out, not for getting into trouble, but for staying out of it. He’s a humble, hardworking young man who’s never had a run-in with the law. Anyone who knows him can tell you that he’s dependable, loyal, and kind-hearted.

After graduating from Coventry High School in 2019, AJ set out to serve his country. He joined the Navy to become a Navy S.E.A.L. Unfortunately, during his first week of training, he tore his right rotator cuff. The injury disqualified him from continuing, and he was discharged with a “no harm, no foul” record.

Despite this setback, AJ didn’t let it stop him. He came home and built a successful armed security business with the mindset to protect and serve. He stayed active, working out daily and spending his idle time as a basketball referee for both kids and adults.
AJ has no children of his own; however, he has always taken pride in being the protector and provider over all his siblings, nieces, and nephews.

How You Can Help:
I am asking for your help to raise $50,000. As I stated before I believe in accountability, what I want most for AJ is a fair chance, an opportunity to be heard and to have his story fully understood. With that being said, these funds WILL NOT go towards securing bail but will go towards securing an attorney, court costs, and anything needed to ensure he has the best chance possible.
If your heart feels led, in addition to any donations, I’m also offering the following services: lawn care, including grass cutting, mulch and rock laying, custom t-shirt design, interior painting, gutter cleaning, and referee services at all levels. If you’re in need of any of these services, I’d be happy to assist in exchange for a donation. Also, if you know someone who could benefit from these services, I would greatly appreciate a referral. Your support, in any form, truly means the world to me.

  • Please consider donating—every dollar counts.
  • Hiring me for one the services I listed ([email redacted])
  • Share this campaign with your friends, and family, and on social media.
  • Keep AJ and my family in your thoughts and prayers.

Thank You
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your generosity, your time, and your prayers.
My heart and prayers go out to all who are grieving this tragic loss.
