Hi all, I am raising funds for my elderly parents, whose house burnt down in the early hours of Sunday morning. Thankfully both my parents escaped with no bad injuries, but they have lost their elderly cat, who was so loved and missed dearly.

We hate asking for help, and it feels so wrong, especially in these difficult times, but we are desperate, as we have discovered that due to my dad’s illness and being in and out of treatments, he hasn’t renewed the insurance and doesn’t have buildings insurance either.

My parents are in their 80s and both terminally ill with cancer. My dad has prostrate & bone cancer and my mum was diagnosed with Myeloma (blood cancer) in 2020. They have been fighting this disease with chemo and ongoing treatments. It's been challenging, and we didn't think things could get any worse. They have both gotten worse since this awful tragedy which is just heartbreaking.

They are now homeless and have lost absolutely everything. My parents are temporarily staying with my sister for a few days until longer-term accommodation can be found.

We do not know the cause of the fire, and the fire marshals can’t find how it started due to the vast mass of rubble. But we think it may be from an appliance in the kitchen. Neither of them smokes or does much cooking.

We want to help our parents as much as possible so they can try to rebuild what is left of their lives. Seeing them lose everything they have worked so hard for at this time in their lives is just heartbreaking, especially with their ongoing terminal illnesses.
