FUNDS FOR DOUG

After 24 years of service as head of the Squash program at Germantown Cricket Club, it is our turn to thank him all that he has done to make the Club a nationally respected squash venue.  His term at GCC included creating and maintaining a junior program that resulted in numerous national and local champions. He literally raised and then coached our children to become scholar athletes with values and purpose. He made squash at GCC a destination activity and the chatter and comradery at the courts was one of GCC’s prime attractions. 

Doug’s laidback style was never mistaken as the absence of discipline and attentiveness to making the GCC members better players, and in our juniors, better people. His program was run with full attention and rigor, from ordering food for the junior programs and tournaments to ensuring beer and crudités for the adults. He hired world class assistants, and provided lessons for a program with more than 100 regular participants. Under Doug ‘s leadership, squash at GCC went from seasonal to year-round, with squash camps for juniors and, for some, a trip to Europe to compete in a different venue.  

So please join us in showing Doug what his spirit, vibrancy and enthusiasm has meant to each of us, our families and GCC  Our support will not only convey our gratitude, but carry him on to his next stop in the Philly squash world.
