Please help my sister and her family evacuate Gaza

My name is Rania Saliba. I am a Canadian Resident and my family, and I moved to Canada because it is a safe country where people are treated fair, and they can live a decent life. I’m originally from Palestine, and I still have a sister there.

Devastation, distraught, and despair. These are the unfortunate words that fill my time and thoughts each day. However, these words are far too inadequate to define this tragic experience and the impact it has had on my family. My sister, Rula, and her family (a husband and four kids) taken sanctuary in Saint Porphyrios Orthodox Church in Gaza, and they are in desperate need for assistance. They have been living in the Church along with other 450 people just because their homes were destroyed.

Luckily, they survived the attack that happened on the Church on Oct 19, 2023. Yes, they survived physically, but not mentally... Can you imagine seeing people who are living with you, some are relatives, some are friends, some are kids, others are parents, who were killed in front of your eyes during the attack. How can a normal human being be able to overcome this misery and keep hope!

With many people living in the same place, they are all suffering from shortage in food, water, and sanity... The basic life needs that every person dreams of having. Recently, they even suffered from viruses due to the life they are forced to live in. They also don’t have constant long-distance communication. So, some days when I am unable to reach my sister, the first thought that would come to me is that they are not alive anymore.

I am reaching out while the walls of destruction continue to close around my sister and her family. They are trapped by the heartbreaking events and war that surrounds them.

To exacerbate matters, my sister’s eldest son was on track to graduate with a bachelor’s degree before he decided to visit his family in Gaza during a break from his studies in Jordan. He is now left with uncertainty for both his future and his life. Another son has also had his future stalled because of his inability to obtain an information technology degree, a degree he has dedicated himself to pursuing. These sons are joined by their younger twin siblings that recently graduated from high school with dreams of studying at a university. Their dreams are no longer to thrive in their careers, they are now just to survive. My sister is crushed with the weight of knowing that their futures are dwindling along with possibly their lives.

Therefore, I am reaching out to request help not for me, but for the voiceless. There are many, but I ask for only a few, my sister, and her family. They are living danger in every second of their lives, not sure if they will make it to the next day. My sister is my heart, my friend, and my protector, whom I must now protect. I plead for your help, your mercy, and your kindness to save a family’s life. Please help save their lives before it’s too late.

The money will go to the only travel agency that is able to get them out into Egypt. They charge $5000 USD per person. It is guaranteed that their names will be on the border list when they receive the money.
