Erin’s Legacy

We believe that playgrounds should be accessible for everyone.
A playground is a space where kids can have fun, make friendships, explore and learn. Yet the majority of playgrounds aren’t accessible.
In fact, there isn’t an accessible play area within a ten mile radius of us (except one which isn’t open on weekends and you have to book to attend!).
It is our mission to change this and this is our story.
Our daughter Erin is six years old and she has cerebral palsy. She spent her primitive years living in a house that overlooked a beautiful park - Stamford Park in Altrincham. Erin will often be seen in Stamford Park, watching her younger neuro typical sister having fun. She enjoys watching her sister play but she can’t join in with her - there’s nothing they can both play on. But what if she could join her? What if they were both able to enjoy the park together?
It’s our mission to make this possible. To ensure Erin, or any young children like Erin get the chance to play in their local parks, with their friends and / or siblings - despite their disability, we have started to work on what we can do to make this possible.
Working with the amazing Chair of ‘The Friends of Stamford Park, Jackie Richards, we have met with Trafford council who will unlock some money towards new equipment but unfortunately, it’s not enough. Disabled playground equipment comes at at a premium; like all disabled equipment.
We want to create a legacy, we want to ensure that children with disabilities have a safe space and the right equipment to play. We will start with Stamford Park but hopefully we’ll be able to drive change across the country, park by park, swing by swing, one roundabout at a time.
Thank you for unlocking some money to update playground equipment ensuring that children like Erin are not overlooked and all youngsters benefit.
Thanks for the support
