Hi everyone, I’m Kristy, Susie’s sister. On behalf of our dad and siblings, we’ve started this GoFundMe to support Susie. Over the past year she has faced significant medical challenges that have left her, her husband, Jace and her children carrying heavy financial burdens. We’re hoping this fundraiser can help ease some of that stress and allow them to focus on what matters most—Susie’s healing and recovery. Here is Susie’s story.
In June 2023, Susie had a massive brain tumor removed.
Two months later, doctors had to place a shunt to drain excess fluid building up in her head.
She recovered slowly over the next two years, but in June 2025, the fluid and pressure in her head started building up again, causing extremely painful headaches. Her neurosurgeon had to go back in and replace the shunt because it wasn’t draining properly.
Just a month later, in July 2025, Susie began experiencing severe abdominal pain. At first, doctors thought it might be related to where her shunt drains into her abdomen, but after many tests they discovered she had large gallstones and needed her gallbladder removed.
On August 8th, Susie underwent gallbladder surgery. While the surgery itself seemed to go as planned, when she woke up she had lost feeling on the entire right side of her body. At first, doctors thought it might be from her positioning during surgery and expected the feeling to return. Unfortunately, two days later she developed a high fever and intense abdominal pain, leading to another hospitalization. Her liver function tests were dangerously high, and she was taken back into the operating room so doctors could check her liver, pancreas, and abdomen. Thankfully, there were no leaks or blockages.
Soon after, Susie was diagnosed with ischemic hepatitis, sometimes called “liver shock,” which happens when the liver doesn’t get enough blood flow. Over time her liver numbers began to improve, but she was left with lasting numbness on the right side of her body. Doctors now believe she suffered a stroke during her gallbladder surgery, and she has been referred to a neurologist for further testing and treatment.

Why We’re Asking for Help
We never imagined Susie and her family would be in this position. Asking for help is incredibly difficult, but the mounting medical bills, combined with the time her husband Jace and her children have had to take off work to care for her, have left them struggling financially.
We are raising funds to help cover:
• Medical bills and ongoing specialist care
• Time away from work for Jace and family while caring for Susie
• Transportation to and from appointments and rehabilitation
Any donation, no matter the size, will help lighten the burden and allow Susie to focus on healing and recovery. Even if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign means the world to us.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for supporting Susie during this incredibly hard journey.
