I am now a sophomore in high school and thinking more and more about my future. I have been awarded a once in a lifetime experience to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum this fall in Washington DC. I have been interested in the Federal Bureau of Investigation the last couple of months and have been looking into it intensively, I learned most of my information about the FBI at a recent college fair in my school.
In NYLF I will get a chance to join other students who are interested in the many disciplines that help keep this country safe. I will also get the opportunity to get an in-depth look at how the United States plans for peace and prepares for crisis. I will be involved in a real-world crisis simulation, interactions with nationally recognized speakers, and get the chance to meet highly respected veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project. If I am lucky I get to be chosen to honor our fallen at Arlington Cemetery by laying a wreath during the Wreath Laying Ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Along completing this program, I am eligible to receive college credit from George Mason University.
Honestly, I want to attend the NYLF this fall, it cost an extreme amount of money. It’s my goal to not want my family paying for all the money towards this program. So I will be mowing lawns, washing cars, fundraising, asking for sponsors and lastly asking for small donations from my friends and family. It would be greatly appreciated if you could donate a small amount of money to help me towards this exciting opportunity. The final total will be $2,755 this includes air fare, food, transportation, all of the seminars, entrances to the museums as well as college fairs, lodging, and souvenirs. Fortunately the program splits the cost. Every thirty days I have to pay a quarter of the total. I know I’m asking for a lot, however, anything will make a difference. I hope to achieve from this opportunity that only a few are invited to experience.
