We ended this campaign by collecting R$10825.76 to support people who lost everything and are in shelters by providing them with food (including meals), medicine, blankets, baby items, and formula. We will close this campaign to focus on close families that lost everything and need support to rebuild. Once again, you made this sad and uncertain time a bit more comfortable for many people.

Hi, I am Carol Darski (@carol.darski), based in Calgary, AB, but I was born and raised in Rio Grande do Sul (RS), Brazil.
Heavy rains caused widespread flooding in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, leaving hundreds of towns under water (CNN coverage, Washington Post coverage), including Canoas, where I spent most of my teenage years, and Esteio, where I was born and spent most of my childhood.
The numbers and reality are far worse than reported by the media. I have close friends who lost everything, and still, they are working on the frontlines, rescuing people, buying supplies for the shelters, and supporting them. Even far from home, we want to help.
The money collected through this campaign will be 100% donated to buy supplies needed to rescue and support people affected by the flooding. This is not a campaign to help families rebuild everything; right now, our focus is on saving lives.

- Leo Moreira (@leocreative) and Itatiaia Neves Peralta (@itatiaiaperalta) are buying supplies needed for the shelters (food, hygiene items, baby items) in Porto Alegre
- Luana Kanitz (@lu.autoestima) is buying supplies needed for the shelters (food, hygiene items, baby items and pet food) in Canoas.
