The devastation from Typhoon Odette is far and wide. Families have lost what little they did have. Christmas is here and they will be too focused on survival to notice now.
There will not be power for months. No water supply for miles. The food supply is minimal. All forms of communication is down. Desperation is setting in very quickly.
I survived the storm and hope to never see another one. This was absolutely terrifying. My personal space is now secure so I wish to help asap. There is a water filtration station by me that is still operating so my plan is to buy 5 gallon jugs of fresh drinking water, load up a rental truck, and drive to the area that was demolished. Along the way I will give food and water to the workers that are fixing all the utilities as well. These guys are working day and night to repair miles (literally) of down and tangled lines. We need them fresh and strong to continue. The temperatures are 90 degrees plus and it takes its toll.
I have purchased clothing for some kids but really I believe water is the most crucial at this time so I will focus on that. The government assistance is coming but there is just not enough manpower to cover all these areas. Some people are still trapped after a week now and cannot be doing well. I will attempt passage to those areas also. Depending on how much we raise I can also include bags of rice with the water.
I have spent my entire life helping others and never asked for anything in return. I will do the same here but I could really use some help this time. Please search Typhoon Odette and look at the massive destruction.
The price for a jug and filling it is about $3 usd.
A bag of rice is about $4 usd.
The price of renting a truck and possibly driver is to be determined.
Thank you - Bob
