Hello, I am Tyler Santos, a Boy Scout from Troop 476. I am currently working on my Eagle Scout Project. An Eagle Scout Service Project is an opportunity for Life Scouts to demonstrate the leadership of others while performing a project to benefit their community. It provides a culmination of the Scout's training and encompasses many of the things learned in the Scouting Program, including detailed planning, dedication, leading other Scouts, and providing cheerful service to others. Eagle Scout Service projects must benefit an organization other than the Boy Scouts of America and must be approved by the members of the larger scouting organization outside of the Troop. It must be completed for the Scout to earn the Eagle Scout rank.
My Eagle Scout project is to install a Public Bike Repair stand at Acuna Park in Montebello CA Many citizens in my community ride their bikes to school, so I feel like this project will benefit My Community immensely. I came up with this project because I experienced a situation in which my bicycle broke down on a boy scout bike ride, and I felt like this bike repair station can help people in situations similar to what I experienced.
The stand I am installing is a self-service bicycle repair stand, which people can use to repair their bikes on the spot, instead of having to go home or shop and fix their bikes. They will no longer have to end their ride there and can continue after completing their repairs. The bike repair stand comes with an air pump, which can not only be used for bikes but for anything that needs to be inflated, The stand comes with tools that can be used to repair broken chains, tires, or any repairs necessary.
The repair station I would like to purchase and install includes these tools:
Deluxe Public Work Stand toolset
Phillips & standard screwdrivers
Steel core tire levers (2)
Headset/pedal wrench
8/10mm cone wrench
9/11mm cone wrench
Torx T-25
Hex key set
All these tools will be attached to the repair stand itself.
Specifications for the repair station can be found here:
The repair station is designed to last for many years in outdoor conditions. The cost for the repair stand and the materials to permanently mount the equipment will approximately cost $2,500. Please consider donating to the GoFundMe page to help raise funds for my eagle scout project. Thank you so much for all of the support.
