My nephew Tyler was a gifted artist with a huge heart for animals, family and friends. Oldest son to my sister Marlene, younger brother to Justice, a big brother to Bryson, Grace, Boone, Shay, Kamree and Brady, and partner in crime to many cousins that are more like siblings to each other.
On January 31st our family lost Ty to suicide. No one suspected that behind that big, beautiful smile and laugh that could fill a room was so much pain. He touched so many lives, whether it was at a cross country meet (he loved to run) or meeting new friends playing cards at Jeff Long Post in Harper, KS. He was always ready to try out a new experiment, and never met a stray cat he didn’t bring home. His heart was as big as his smile. He had the ability to catch on quickly to most any task presented to him, and the tenacity to figure out the more difficult challenges.
Losing Tyler so quickly and unexpectedly has left us in absolute shock and despair. The plans, hopes, and dreams for the future have been replaced with questions of why we did not see how sad he was. Our son, grandson, brother, nephew, cousin and friend has been stolen from us, and we have all been left with a hole in our hearts.

Tyler’s family lives in a small rural town in Kansas, with few options (outside of school sports/clubs) for youth activities. Our goal through this page is to fund an activity center for the kids in Harper County and the surrounding area to gather and interact, as well as address the tragic suicide epidemic. The devastating effect of such a permanent decision has left us all with so much grief and having to accept that we will have to live our lives without Ty forever is overwhelmingly painful. Knowing we will never hear his loud, boisterous laugh again breaks our hearts. He was truly loved and will forever be missed.

Our vision for the youth center would include areas for cards/board games, a concession area, with possibility of arcade games/pool table if funding allows. A building has been secured downtown but will require extensive renovation. Any funds over the amount needed to start up and operate the activity center with be used to provide financial aid for those needing/wanting counseling. My hope is that no other family endure the pain and suffering that we have with the tragic loss of such a beautiful soul. Our vision is to provide support for the community as well. We would like to be able to hold youth group meetings and will be searching for leaders. We will have a community board where anyone can post needs and services offered. The elderly/special needs community would be encouraged to post help needed requests, and the youth can earn credits in the activity center for their community service! This activity center is desperately needed in this area, and can work to benefit not only the youth, but the entire community.

I would appreciate you sharing this page! We understand not everyone can afford a monetary donation in these times, but anything helps. If you’re local and have board/card games collecting dust please consider donating them. Maybe you have a few extra hours on the weekend to lend a hand with clean up and remodel, we would appreciate the help! We need to see something positive come from such a devastating situation. To know that there is a possibility that our loss can help prevent another tragedy is consoling in itself. I hope that this page is received with the compassion and kind heart that Ty gave the world his short time here. There is hope, and we appreciate your generosity in helping us find it for others.
