Two young girls losing their Mum to Cancer

Hello, my name is Sophie. I am the eldest daughter, age 18, of Anita Tavendale. Anita passed away on the 21/09/2025 at the age 50. She left behind myself, and my younger sister Ellie, 16. Our mum was diagnosed with stage 4 metastasized breast cancer, that unfortunately spread all throughout her body, and her story was cut short. I have been a carer for both my mum and sister for the past 2 years. But as mum has passed I will be losing the compensation as a carer, and will be working longer days and hours, more so then I already was…which is an issue as I can’t leave my younger sister at home as she requires my support. I am just needing this time with my family, especially with my sister to grieve the loss of my mum without having to worry about working and applying for new jobs. For losing a mum at ages 16 and 18 is unbelievably hard, and my sister and I are still trying to navigate this grief and loss together in this time

Mum had been a beautiful, happy person. She was always involved with my sister and I, and always gave us the world. As it was just mum, my sister and I, the loss is huge within our lives, and we aren’t quite sure what to do now that she’s gone.

With some of the funds I am hoping to start an organization based on my mum’s legacy; her legacy of living with breast cancer. I wish to bring awareness to young parents dying of cancer, but also how the people left behind must live with it….and how to do such a thing, even when it seems impossible.
